Wat Dhevaraj Goonchon another ancient temple of Thailand, built in year 1307, during the Ayutthaya Dynasty, it was a common temple then, was called 'Wat Samo Krang' by the people. Later on H.M. King Rama IV accepted it as Royal Temple and gave the name 'Wat Dhevaraj Goonchon'.
H.M. King Rama IV named this temple after Price Pitak Dheves, son of King Rama II because Price Pitak had been a patron of this temple for a long time.
At presently, this temple is a Royal Temple, Third Class, it had importance on history, beauty of architecture of the temple hall, pavilion with entrance on all four sides. Thai style sermon hall as well as interior paintings and the adapted Thai art on the walls.
